CHANDLER TG1
Saturday, May 23, 2009
Often times Ian Lewis, co-owner of Circle House, will lend me a piece of gear to test out for him. I had been working for a week with barely any sleep and I was having trouble finishing a Trick Daddy song “Tonight” featuring Jaheem and Trina. I had the track slamming and the verses glossy but I kept coming back to the hook, it just didn’t sound expensive. The worst part was that I had tracked the hook so it was nobody’s fault but my own. This was back before I owned a 1073, I had tracked Jaheem through the Avalon 737 and I just couldn’t make him glisten, the hook sounded very dull. I completely zeroed out all of the EQing on his track and ran him through this Chandler TG1 that Ian had gave me to try out.....the difference was immediate, the mix was over.
It’s very rare for a piece of gear to do what this box does, it gives immediate drastic results. It’s easy to use, each channel has 3 knobs and a compressor/limiter switch. I like this box better than the LA2A. This is the type of box that can bring tracks back to life, I am extremely impressed with this company and I can’t wait to test out all of their products.
PROS
-one of the best compressor/limiters I’ve ever used
-easy to use, idiot proof
-gives amazing results effortlessy
CONS
-expensive (you get what you pay for)
This one is on the top of my wishlist.
