Jimmy Douglas swears by these and I agree with him 100%.  This compressor has a vintage sound and it gives you complete control of the compression so that you can achieve maximum definition in your mix.  In my opinion this is the most versatile compressor ever made.  It’s great on vocals, drums, bass, guitars, pianos, etc, etc..  I wish I had 12 of these.  I was working on the Christina Milian project with my friend Brizz, when I walked in the room and heard how good she sounded being tracked through the 1176 I was extremely impressed.

    I want to try out the new remakes that Universal Audio is making, I don’t want to buy it unless I know it’s close to that sound that I’m used to.  Is there anyone out there who has heard remake in comparison to the original??????
