GML 8200
Saturday, May 23, 2009
The GML 8200 is a legend. It has a unique ability to spice up a mix like no other EQ. I normally despise gear with a ton of knobs but I make a big exception for this bad boy. This box has 5 stereo bands each with 3 knobs for selecting frequency, boosting the frequency, and shaping the Q. Unlike the Manley Massive Passive all of the knobs are sweepable, nothing is notched. You just close your eyes and start spinning the knobs one band at a time until the mix starts talking to you.
This EQ is amazing on vocals also. It’s great at bringing out slight nuances in the vocal to make it shimmer. This is the most artistic EQ that I’ve ever used.
PROS
-can be used for mastering
-the standard stereo bus EQ
-amazing harmonics, this baby sings!
CONS
-expensive (get what you pay for)
